Demilitarise/DePinkwash 2023 - Washington D.C.
A Call to Action
It is with deep concern that complete silence registered from professionals and organizations, working within the Club Culture environment, regarding the persistent Pinkwashing strategies that take place during various Pride events.
This in Washington D.C. on June 2023, is particularly concerning as the entity financing the parade is an american aerospace, arms, defense, information security, and technology corporation.
One contributing to the numerous conflicts and fatalities that we have witnessed, and still do.
As progressive environments members of society, emerging from the need of denouncing and opposing wrongdoings, while bringing people together, so to concretely build bridges, and striving for a more equal and sustainable world, Pride, and Club Culture must establish commitments to reduce carbon emissions, also a testament to their commitments to sustainability, and equality, and to their awareness that their actions matter.
Funding through arms companies and the military clearly do not reflect this, while also sustaining conflicts and presenting disastrous impacts on human rights.
Instead, we want Pride, and Club Culture, to become champions of peace, leading the next generations toward peace and sustainability.
Hence why we call upon all of those operating within Club Culture to denounce such modus operandi, arranging a table of discussion with those in Washington D.C., D.C. Pride organisers, and the local administration, so as to discuss disinvestment strategies to implement, a Demilitarise/DePinkwash Pride Treaty, and a comprehensive policy brief in order to facilitate divestment and change.
These will aim to break investments, collaborations, and partnerships with the military sector, and other very questionable entities, and offer solutions to creating effective and sustainable changes.
Together we can enact change and create a better world where we are not governed by the interests of war, or any other destructive, modus operandi.
